At Sweet Seeds®, we have always tried to include stable genetics in our collection that are easy to grow and deliver both quantity and quality at the same time. When we launched our Green Poison® (SWS14) onto the market in 2009, we already knew that growers would get the highest quality, with a short flowering time and a bud production well above average. But we could not imagine that it would so quickly become one of the best sellers in our genetic collection.

Which strains contain Green Poison® in their genetics?

17 years have passed, and today the now-classic Green Poison® remains a favorite among many expert growers and a pleasant surprise for all beginners thanks to its ease of growing. For all these reasons, we have progressively expanded the family of this classic over the years, using its genetics in the development of new projects, until reaching the present moment, when we have several genetics that make up this family:

Red Poison Auto®: another great success that confirms the high quality of Green Poison®

The purple genetics from Sweet Seeds® most widely used by our R&D Department in the initial development of new strains in The Red Family is Red Poison Auto®. This means that, of all the genetics we have used to cross with our autoflowering purple-flowered genetics with Pakistani Kush ancestors, which made it possible to create The Red Family, the one that has delivered the best results is precisely the classic Green Poison®. Below we talk about these wonderful strains and about what you can expect from growing each one of them.

Green Poison®

Our original Green Poison® is a fast-growing plant with explosive flowering. Due to its hybrid vigor, plant development is extremely fast, something that is also reflected in the rooting of cuttings from this strain. Roots that develop at a dizzying pace, robust trichomes piling up from the third week of flowering onward, and rapid flower ripening are characteristics that stand out clearly when growing this genetic line.

It is a very stable plant, with few phenotypic variations, and although some differences may appear in plants grown from seed, in terms of size and structure they are usually very uniform, which makes Green Poison® a very suitable strain for SOG growing. Its long, flexible, highly manageable branches also make it a good option for ScrOG growing.

A very sweet aroma, highly intense and pleasant, with notes of lemon and other fruits that remain in the nose for several minutes. The density of the smoke and vapor is very pleasant, leaving a very enjoyable flavor in the mouth. We are talking about a Skunk background flavor with sweet and fruity nuances.

The effect is very powerful and long-lasting. It begins to be felt between 2 and 5 minutes after the first inhalation and lasts for a period of between 60 and 90 minutes. It is a favorite among many growers and has won a total of 22 cups in cannabis competitions held in Spain and abroad.

Green Poison Auto®

Between 2009 and 2011, we developed its autoflowering version by introducing autoflowering genes into the original photoperiod-dependent Green Poison®. An excellent job of careful and professional breeding carried out by the Sweet Seeds® R&D Department, which managed to preserve the desirable traits present in its predecessor.

When developing this strain, we aimed for a medium-to-tall autoflowering genetic that, under optimal growing conditions, produces plants between 60 cm and 100 cm tall by the end of flowering. To incorporate the autoflowering genes into Green Poison Auto®, we used a very special genetic line from Big Devil #2 Auto® (SWS20), medium-tall in size and with high flower and resin production.

Green Poison Auto® is a 3rd Generation autoflowering strain that grows with the appearance of an Indica-Sativa hybrid with Sativa dominance and starts flowering automatically between 20 and 25 days after seed germination. The plants show a short internodal distance that encourages the production of long bud colas joined together. These generous buds become packed with resin between the second and fourth week of flowering and are ready to harvest just two months after germination.

The delicious and intense aroma of its photoperiod-dependent version has been fixed throughout the entire offspring. This aroma is fruity, very penetrating, and sweet, with tones reminiscent of classic Skunk genetics, though fruitier and sweeter. The flavor also contains that Skunk-and-fruit blend and is very powerful and persistent.

Green Poison Auto® has the same effect as its photoperiod-dependent version, although some phenotypes may produce flowers with a slightly more energetic effect. In general, it is a powerful effect, physically relaxing but at the same time with gentle psychoactive traits. It is a very manageable effect that can be enjoyed at any time of day, whether to relax, go out partying, or simply socialize with friends. A very good effect for stimulating the appetite, relieving stress, and improving your mood.

Red Poison Auto®

During the 2013 season, we launched a new family of autoflowering strains distinguished by their beautiful red or purple flowers, the result of a high presence of anthocyanins. We called this group of strains The Red Family. These are autoflowering strains with “purple” genetics in which a high percentage of the seeds give rise to plants with purple or red flowers from the 2nd week of flowering onward.

When we began the breeding program that would lead to the creation of this family, we chose 3 of the most popular strains among our customers and friends to hybridize with the red-flowered autoflowering genetics, whose ancestors come from the Chitral region in the Pakistani Hindu Kush. One of these 3 selected genetics was Green Poison®. Thus, Red Poison Auto® was born.

This is a strain that grows with a good structure, branches heavily, and produces long, strong leaves. It shows great hybrid vigor, prioritizing the strengthening of its branches, which later allows them to support its heavy floral clusters.

The plant shows good pest resistance and, when grown in a nutrient-rich substrate, it may not even need liquid fertilizers during the roughly 60 to 65 days it takes to be ready, counting from germination to harvest. It is a great producer of resin-covered buds, just like its predecessor Green Poison®.

Its flowers give off a very distinctive aroma that can be described as sweet and citrusy. After rubbing the flowers between your fingers, soft notes of cotton candy appear, also somewhat reminiscent of gummies or chewing gum. Once ground with a grinder, other more perfumed aromas are also revealed.

The effect is felt just seconds after the first inhalation, but it is pleasantly progressive, beginning with a slight feeling of relaxation and then, some 5-10 minutes later, fully settling into a controllable euphoria balanced by a sensation of serenity and inner peace.

When its flowers are vaporized, an earthy aroma appears, very characteristic of Pakistani and Afghan Indica strains from the Hindu Kush mountains. A soft and sweet aroma that is also very clearly present in the smoke of this beautiful and delicious Red Poison Auto®.

Green Poison F1 Fast Version®

How many times have we dreamed of a plant that is ready in just 6 weeks of flowering, that is not autoflowering so that we can keep a mother plant and grow from cuttings, and that at the same time delivers the best quality and the highest production of compact buds loaded with aromatic resin?

During the 2013 season, we made this dream come true by launching a new product type in which Sweet Seeds® has been a pioneer: the F1 Fast Version® strains. These new strains are F1 hybrids resulting from the cross between a photoperiod-dependent genetic and an autoflowering genetic. As a result of this hybridization, we obtain photoperiod-dependent genetics with very fast flowering. The photoperiod-dependent parent contributes its photoperiod-dependent condition to the entire F1 offspring, while the autoflowering genetic contributes very fast flower ripening and maturation throughout the entire offspring.

Just as had happened shortly before with the genetics of The Red Family, we began by using our best and most renowned genetics, among which our original Green Poison® had to be included. Thus Green Poison F1 Fast Version® was born, an F1 genetic resulting from the cross between an elite clone of our prized Green Poison® and a selected genetic line of 3rd Generation autoflowering Green Poison Auto®.

If we germinate 5 or 10 seeds of this strain and then select the fastest one and the one we like best in terms of yield and final quality of the dried flowers, it is possible to find a mother plant that produces top-quality cuttings, productive and ready to harvest in just 6 weeks of flowering. And with this, we can significantly increase the number of yearly harvests, because in indoor grows it is possible to harvest once every month and a half.

As for outdoor grows, possibly for the first time in the history of cannabis, we can harvest high-quality modern photoperiod-dependent hybrids much earlier than the usual harvest time for classic photoperiod-dependent plants. Green Poison F1 Fast Version® plants are ready to be harvested in late August or early September, depending on personal preference and the phenotype of each seed, which makes it possible to bring the harvest forward and avoid coinciding with the gray mold season.

It is a plant that, just like its original version and its autoflowering versions, develops with great vigor, producing long side branches with short internodal spacing. Ultra-fast flowering and high production of flowers loaded with aromatic resin. Exquisite aroma in the same intensely Skunky line, with sweet, very penetrating tones. It delivers a physical and relaxing effect that stimulates optimism and provides a sense of well-being anywhere and at any time of day.

Green Poison XL Auto®

After the great success achieved with Green Poison Auto®, at Sweet Seeds® we continued working on this genetic line with the aim of taking some of its best qualities even further. This is how Green Poison XL Auto® was born, a 3rd Generation autoflowering strain developed through a recurrent selection program of tall Green Poison Auto® individuals over multiple generations. The result is an XL version that produces plants approximately 25% taller than its predecessors, with higher flower and resin production as well.

It is a very vigorous autoflowering genetic, with a balanced structure and great productive capacity, ideal for those looking for larger autoflowering plants without giving up fast growing times. Under optimal conditions, it develops specimens between 80 and 125 cm tall, with abundant side branching and excellent bud formation, which makes it a very interesting option for both indoor and outdoor growing. In addition, it maintains the fast cycle characteristic of this family, being ready to harvest in just 8 weeks from germination.

As for its organoleptic profile, Green Poison XL Auto® faithfully preserves the aromatic character that has made the Green Poison® family so popular. Its aromas and flavors are very pleasant and intense, with sweet and fruity notes, a sweet Skunk background, and peculiar hints reminiscent of arugula and walnuts. It is a complex and very distinctive combination, capable of leaving a lasting impression both on the nose and on the palate, something highly appreciated by growers who value not only production but also the aromatic richness of each harvest.

The effect of Green Poison XL Auto® is powerful but manageable, and fits very well with the profile of a strain designed for everyday enjoyment. It produces a relaxing and cheerful effect while also stimulating the appetite, which can make it an excellent choice for those seeking a pleasant, balanced experience with a friendly character.
