- pH levels: There’s a strong relationship between pH and the color produced by anthocyanins. Higher acidity tends to result in redder tones, while higher alkalinity gives more bluish tones. When the pH is balanced between acidity and alkalinity, cannabis plants can display purple or violet hues.
